Non Profit Shout Out/Blog Link Up

Time to write about non profits that we love! Woohoo! Guess what most of mine will be about? {Read what my friends wrote about at Holley’s linkup.} There are too many to list but leave me your favorite in the comments if you think it needs mentioning!

Not a non profit, but a pretty cool ministry…Give1Save1. We blog about adoption, family, art, and whatever else strikes our fancy. Families can be on the blog and fundraise for a week to help fund their adoptions. We have Africa, Asia (<<<<-I blog there), Europe, US and Caribbean pages.

Next up is Reece’s Rainbow. An adoption advocacy site. Waiting children are featured, prayed for, and are able to have grants funded for their families.  Awesomeness.

Another favorite is International Justice Mission. They are a human rights agency that rescues victims of slavery, exploitation and abuse.  It’s a big deal.

Social justice is HUGE to me! To see people struggling, taken advantage of, hungry,  hurt and to do nothing is not okay. Jesus healed, touched the unclean, ate with the poor, spent time with the least of these.  It’s about redemption.

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.

Micah 6:8

Mondays mean an email from our agency. Sean and I try to outrun each other to check our email. He usually wins. I’m tripping him next week. Today’s email said to expect to make 2 trips to Korea.  Still no dates, but we do know people are getting court dates.  I’ll keep you posted;)

Only 4 more full days of school, then 2 more 1/2 days! We are excited!

Will someone come plant my garden for me? I have the plants sitting on the back porch.  I don’t even have to be home…you can just show up.

Jacob made a pillowcase with all kinds of stuff to know for their standardized test.  It’s cute! They’re supposed to sleep on it. He wants to know how he’s supposed to memorize all of this stuff if he’s sleeping on it. Good question, son!  Some good ideas go south in the land of autism….

I wish I was at the beach. For about 3 months.

It’s Almost Summer! {and we’re still waiting!}

Adoption update:
Yeah, nothing new, just waiting. There is a good chance we’ll have to take two trips to Korea. So, our spring travel plans are turning into summer travel plans. But, hey, who doesn’t love Korea in the summer??

Caleb played paintball today and you would have thought he won the lottery. Boys.
Jacob has discovered UNO. It brings back old youth group trip memories. There were some serious UNO marathons on the way to camp! And FYI, I’m still not competitive and Sean is still OVERLY so. Gah!!

Grandma is here this weekend. Thankfully, our flash flood disappeared as quickly as it came and it’s turning into a pretty weekend.
I planted a few things this weekend. I really want my tomatoes to grow! I wish I had a huge garden.
Less than 2 weeks left of school! My nephew, Evan, graduates next weekend. Time flies!! It will be my own babies graduating before I know it.

Orphan Advocacy–Reece’s Rainbow and Holt

Time to do a bit of orphan advocacy, or, you know….James 1:27.  (by the way, “pure religion” was almost the name of this blog…just fyi)

Reece’s Rainbow advocates for waiting children.  There are 100s of children in need of families. If you feel called to adopt, visit their site and learn more.  If you want to donate to waiting children’s grants, you can.  That grant is given to their family when they are matched and ready to travel.

Here are a few of the waiting children… Justin, age 1 1/2. He has Down’s Syndrome and heart issues.  He has a huge grant to help his family bring him home.  Is it you?

Meet Miss Naomi.  She is 5, beautiful and has Cerebral Palsy. Her country is open to single moms.

And on the Holt Waiting Child Page, there are boys and girls waiting. Waiting for their forever families.

What? Did you ask about requirements to adopt? Look here for info about several countries.

Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them. (Proverbs 3:27)

I’m glad you stopped by today!

You May Say I’m a Dreamer…

My GSD topic is to “encourage other dreamers”.  I realized that we all need encouragement, right? I know I do!

To the mamas who dream of “something else” when their kiddos are grown…it’s okay. Don’t feel guilty.

To the mamas who want to rock their babies everyday and never go back to work again….rock on, mama.

To the young women who aren’t sure what to do, but they know it’s something big, don’t give up on your dreams.  Reach for them–stretch for them.  You will find them.

To my boys who dream of creating and never growing old, I say, do it! Stay young at heart, my babies.

To you who aren’t quite sure what’s next, just keep looking.  Or, let it find you.

To the biggest dreamer I know, my husband, keep dreaming. I’ll follow you.
