Korea In The Fall

Our trip is going well. We have walked, conquered the subway, enjoyed sight seeing with new friends, ordered food in sign language, and taken lots of pictures. Sean is the best travel companion ever–we have laughed (mostly at each other, or maybe mostly at me) and had a lot of fun. Today is a big day and we are both looking forward to seeing our girl. (A lot. Very much. Reaalllly excited!)
We’ve already scoped out some places to take the boys next time. They will love Korea as much as we do. {new food for Caleb and playgrounds for Jacob- what more do you need?}

Korea is beautiful. So much to see and take in. We are loving it and can’t wait for all of us to be here together. By the way, it’s 5am and I’ve been up for hours. I’m following the jet lag rules, but my body doesn’t believe me;)

6 Days….

Week at a glance:

Not much sleep for me because I’m a basket case.

Jacob joined the chess club and had his first meeting this week. Sean and Caleb both play, too, so they can teach Jacob because, surprisingly, I do not play chess. I know, I know, you thought I did.

Caleb is just rocking along in middle school. He made an A on a pre-algebra quiz and again, that must be a boy thing.  It’s not a mama thing.

Our Friday night consisted of Steak and Shake and Books a Million.  Because we’re old and that’s what’s fun.

Tomorrow is a service day with our church, Sean leaves Sunday for a few days before we leave THURSDAY!!!  My hope is that I actually pack everything before we leave. I mean, after I go to the store to get trip stuff, obviously.   I am 0% finished (or started, for that matter), so I have a lot of room to grow in this area. It’s really a life long goal that I have not seen much progress toward, but I really think this is my year!;)  Thank goodness Sean is an expert packer!

Okay, that’s it. Enjoy your weekend!

Me, You and Community

I am super busy and honestly, a little stressed these days! Some due to procrastination and some due to….well, life.  We are leaving in 10 days for Korea! What, what???!  I have to get me ready to go, the boys ready to stay, the house ready for us to be gone and Grandma to be here, schedules written out and shop for all of the little odds and ends you need for a trip.  And pack. (oh, yeah)  I want to do a trial run to make sure everything fits, but haven’t yet.  There’s always tomorrow, right?

So, you already know I was part of a group of bloggers this year. We were given topics to blog about, and we also had some personal “stuff” to do to challenge ourselves.   Through this, I have joined another group of bloggers called “World Help Bloggers”.   Would you like to join us, too? You would?? You can read a little more about the guidelines, but we are a community of storytellers, using our voice to help change the world. If you’re interested, just do it!  Become a World Help Blogger. Find more info here.

Now, as a bonus for you, because I know you like free things, especially cool free things, I will be having a giveaway for a fab book, “Awake” by Noel Yeatts. I’ve already started reading it and I already love it.  It’s about seeing the world we live in. The world that we are a part of as fellow human beings created by God. It’s about helping our brothers and sisters in need.  — I’ll post more details about the giveaway verrrryy soon, so don’t forget to check back here.

One more thing…..I’ll also be sharing info for an online community group for ladies.  All women, all stages of life can find a group.  It’s nothing tedious and it’s not time consuming, nor does it have homework!!  Just encouragement.  We all need community and we all need encouragement.

“Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art… It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things that give value to survival.” -C.S. Lewis

AND

Proverbs 27:9 “The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense.”

I’ll post the link where you can find a group for you very soon! In the meantime, if you aren’t already getting daily devos from (in)courage, you should go take a look.

See you back here soon—–have a great week!!

Hello, Long Weekend, I’ve Missed You

It’s been a while…..how are ya??  We’re all looking forward to the long weekend.  Probably some painting, definitely a nap (at least for me!) and other than that, nothing.

4th grade is going well for Jacob.  He always cracks us up and I keep meaning to write down what he says, but I never do. Except on here:) A few weeks ago, a lady joined our church, so we raised our hands at the end of the service “in agreement”.  Jacob asks me, “What are we raising our hands for?”  I told him.  He proceeds to say, “I’m not sure about that. I don’t know her.”  Soooo, that’s how it goes, folks;)

Caleb is in 7th grade! In the youth group-what, what??? He’s still Sean’s protege and such a smart kid. I wish I could put some of his art work on the blog but, alas, I’m not quite that savvy. He’s really creative and talented.

Sean and I leave in 18 days for Korea:):) We are very excited.  We also have to keep the details private from now on. Don’t think we went MIA, just a little more quiet.

I hope you have a great Labor Day!!
